Education has been a priority for members of Pottawatomie Garden Club since 1991 when their scholarship program began with a single $500 award. Since then the program has grown in proportion to the group’s size and fund raising capabilities. Because of its effort, many deserving students have been assisted to valuable careers in the field of horticulture.
Each year, one $3,000 scholarship will be given.
Residents of St. Charles High School District #303 pursuing full time studies in botany, horticulture, ecology, forestry, conservation, land management and related subjects are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be high school graduating seniors or graduates. Previous recipients are eligible to reapply.
The deadline for applications is April 3.

Pottawatomie Garden Club presented a $3,000 scholarship to Alexandrea Baker at their July meeting. Alexandrea is a graduate of St. Charles East and a student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln majoring in geography and plans to obtain a Master's Degree in Urban Planning. Alexandrea stated in her application that she really cares for the environment and people and that the only way we can survive as a population is to find a way to care for them both.
