"Nature as Our Pharmacy: Intro to Herbs & Herbal Preparations" Our ancestors have used plants for nourishment, healing, & prevention.  Ellyn Schmitz from Resiliency Institute will introduce us to this lost wisdom with samples for tasting, while sharing in the benefits & dispelling myths of using plants and herbs safely.

Mary Saba from the Growing Place presents the growing season with a kaleidoscope of plants that will provide a succession of blooms from early March through mid November!  Including a combination of ideas that help maximize color in your own garden.

"Make Your Own Terrarium"
Hands on terrariums.  Join our own Linda Miller from Heinz Nursery as she designs individual terrariums.  She will explain the plants that work well together in this unique growing climate.  (Members will have the opportunity to do a 'make and take' -- details & cost/member to follow).

Come help plant the beautiful flowers selected for the Main Street and Illinois bridges. Bring your own garden gloves and trowel...plants will be provided.

"Redbud Farm Field Trip" -2930 N. 4351st Rd, Sheridan, IL 
Nancy Christian, designer at Redbud Farm, will discuss the Victorian courting tradition, which used the secret meaning of different flowers to convey the emotions of a couple beginning a relationship.  It is a tradition very far removed from our modern lives, which makes it all the more interesting & fun.  Following--members may tour the gardens & gift shops. (Carpooling is strongly encouraged).  Box lunches by "Ginger & Soul" for $10 each.

Why pay for flowers when you can pick your own beauties from your garden?  The Growing Place will discuss how to include annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees, all of which make beautiful bouquets!

John Rabchuk, President of the River Corridor Foundation, will be speaking to our club.  He will provide in depth information explaining exactly what the River Corridor project is, and how our club has assisted the project with our involvement over the past several years.

Mary Saba, from the Growing Place, will explain how to work with a mature landscape.  Learn how to decide what to keep, what to remove, what to trim, and how to replace what is not needed or we just don't like.  Also hear how to integrate new plants & shrubs into your landscape.

Nancy Christian, designer from Redbud Farm, will 
demonstrate 2 mixed containers, incorporating new /and /or uncommon varieties of plants.  One will feature shade and the other for sun. Nancy will inspire us to create our own!
